Going the Extra Mile

Here at the credit union we try and ensure that our members always receive great customer service, but our staff often go the extra mile to exceed expectations and this is just one of our member stories that we would like to share with you.

Emma’s Story

I joined the credit union at the end of last year when I needed to borrow a small amount to help with the cost of Christmas.  It was really easy and convenient to set up and it helped take the stress out of Christmas so I could enjoy the time with my family.

I am a full-time carer for my one of my children who has a number of additional needs and in March this year they were admitted to hospital for a serious operation.

It was a really stressful and worrying time which was made even worse when I found out that my carers allowance would be temporarily stopped as I was not considered to a carer while my little one was in hospital.  I rarely left the hospital during this time and the additional expenses started adding up and were a worry that I could do without with everything else that was going on.  Travelling, meals and all the bits that you don’t think about on top of all the usual bills and costs at home meant I was struggling to cover everything financially for those couple of weeks.

I called in at my Credit Union not feeling very hopeful.  I had already taken a loan a couple of months before which I was still paying off and my income didn’t look great due to some of my benefits being temporarily stopped.   I explained everything that was going on and they really listened and understood.  Due to the urgency of the situation they went the extra mile and processed my application to top up my loan the same day so I could get straight back to the hospital with one less thing to worry about.

Ina and the team are so friendly and helpful and take the time to listen, I would recommend the credit union for everyone.
