The Break Free Project!

break free

The Break Free Project will soon be launching to provide an alternative to high cost weekly payment stores and is a partnership between Changing Lives in Cheshire and West Cheshire Credit Union.

We were getting pretty fed up of local people having to take out expensive credit from well-known weekly payment stores and decided to do something about it and so with the help of  funding from Cheshire West & Chester Council we will be launching the Break Free project.
The aim of this project is to ensure that local people can purchase new and high quality reconditioned electrical goods and household items and pay for them in instalments, but unlike other weekly payment stores the prices will be lower, the flexible weekly, fortnightly or monthly repayments we offer will be affordable and there will be no hidden fees or compulsory insurances !
You can find out more about the project here

Christmas Loans

Christmas loan comparison

It’s getting to that time when thoughts turn to Christmas, don’t leave everything until the last minute.

There is still time to open an account and save some money to help cover the costs and if you do need a little extra you could apply for a loan, available only to members.  Please remember that we get extremely busy in the run up to Christmas and therefore loan applications can take a little longer to process so don’t leave it too late. For more information give us a call on Chester 01244 399006 or Ellesmere Port 0151 352 0391.

PayPointLogo_svgImportant Information about your paypoint card

We must inform you that due to a decision by our banking provider to review their product range, the PayPoint Card facility will no longer be available for use after 1st September 2017.

Having taken a view on the continuation of such a service, West Cheshire Credit Union have decided to switch existing members who use a PayPoint Card, over to Standing Order. Given the fact that many members now have bank accounts this will prove the easiest and most cost-effective way of overcoming the withdrawal of the service.

Although we are disappointed that our banking provider will no longer offer the PayPoint Card we are confident going forward that the transition to standing order will benefit both you as a valued member, plus the business due to the additional administration charges the PayPoint Card carried.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be writing to all members who have a paypoint card to help transfer to standing order.  If you have any queries or require further assistance please contact our administration team on Chester 1244 399006 or email them on  Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am – 2pm.
